Hunter – Mega Flare

Hunter is the second GameChops release from chiptune musician Mega Flare, this time he turns his focus to the dark melodies of Castlevania. Mega Flare uses a Nintendo Gameboy with the homebrew software LSDj to make music. This time, he collaborated with Dj CUTMAN to record each channel of the Gameboy’s sound-chip separately to mix them using Ableton Live. The result are two larger-than-life chiptune tracks with driving basslines and crisp clean leads. You can hear the influence of Baltimore’s clubs in Mega Flare’s drum patterns and arrangement.

Maverick – Mega Flare

Mega Flare is a DJ, producer and chiptune musician, and Maverick is his first release with GameChops. It’s an EP of chipmusic inspired by the soundtrack of the Mega Man X series for SNES. This album was written on the music tracker software LSDj ( littlesounddj.com ) and recorded on a single Nintendo Gameboy,model DMG-01. Maverick is considered a “de-make” of the 16-bit soundtrack for Mega Man X; Each track was re-written on the 4-bit soundchip of the Nintendo Gameboy.

Aerith’s Theme

Soft, sweet vibes and gentle beats blossom on “Aerith’s Theme”, from Final Fantasy VII. Rifti Beats, best known for his work on Mega Ran’s Black Materia: The Remake, shares the first track from his upcoming album “Chocobo & Chill”

Rifti is a lofi and hip hop beatmaker who’s been flipping anime and videogame themes for years. “Aerith’s Theme” comes from the 1997 Square Enix classic, Final Fantasy VII, but is also featured prominently in last year’s Final Fantasy VII Remake. Dreamy synths and intricate beats perfectly carry the melancholy theme of the beloved Final Fantasy heroine.

Black Materia: The Remake

Ten years in the making, Black Materia: The Remake is a hip hop tribute to Final Fantasy VII. Gamer musician Raheem “Mega Ran” Jarbo and video game music record label GameChops to release Black Materia: The Remake, a 22-track album of original rap songs inspired by Final Fantasy VII Remake, the award-winning 2020 reboot of one of the most popular video games of all time.

Drake & Chill

Lofi beatmaker RiftiBeats flips Drake’s most famous hits into chillhop bops! Rifti made waves in 2022 with his Final Fantasy tribute album Chocobo & Chill. But after the album dropped, he started suffering from burnout. It wasn’t until Drake released his latest album, Honestly Nevermind, that Rifti became inspired to produce again.
