I’ve said this before and I’m gonna say it again now:\u00a0<\/em> one of my favorite things about chipmusic is how an *AWESOME*<\/em> artist that I’ve never<\/em>\u00a0 heard of before can come out of nowhere\u00a0with a\u00a0*STELLAR*<\/em> \u00a0release \u00a0and *COMPLETELY*<\/em> \u00a0blow my mind. Today’s Friday Freakout artist does this yet again for me and in a\u00a0*SPECTACULAR*\u00a0<\/em> fashion:<\/p>\n

\"\" Rhythm ‘N’ Bits <\/strong><\/p>\n

This Ubiktune release<\/a>\u00a0(that alone <\/em>\u00a0should tell you something!!) is jammed full of funky \u00a0goodness with 19 tracks of mind blowing, hip moving, baby making\u00a0AWWWW YEEEAAAH! \u00a0<\/em>Yoann<\/a> describes his fantastical release quite accurately as, “…the meeting of Chiptune with Funk, RnB and Epic Themes!!” While there’s a goodly amount of EPIC<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>in the chipscene, both funk and R&B are largely underrepresented genres.\u00a0<\/em>This release\u00a0most definitely \u00a0<\/em>helps fill that void and in a damn powerful way!\u00a0<\/em> The overall level of musicianship displayed by Yoann<\/a> on this album, along with the very high production value of it, is\u00a0frighteningly amazing;\u00a0<\/em>even for the talent rich chipscene full of stand-out releases and artists, this one stands out\u00a0like a 100 story unicorn made of disco balls and laser beams and EXPLOSIONS\u00a0and sexy. 8)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

There’s a bit more going on with the theme of this album than meets the eye as well. According to Dmitry at Ubiktune, “Rhythm’n’Bits<\/em>\u00a0is a tribute to the video game soundtracks that had a big impact on Yoann as a child. Yoann captured this fascinating music in this album, inspired by the RPGs from the 90’s as well as Sega Mega Drive and Super NES games.” Dmitry goes on to explain, “The story told with the album is about the gamer he (Yoann) was and still is. In every track, Yoann tried to show that chiptune has not aged and can be considered a contemporary medium or instrument.”<\/p>\n

Snag this FUNKALICIOUS<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>album on iTunes<\/a>, Bandcamp<\/a>, or Amazon.mp3<\/a> (the latter currently having the lowest price for purchase in the states, as Yoann hails from France!).\u00a0<\/em>EASILY<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0worth the purchase price to obtain these\u00a0EXCELLENT<\/em> \u00a0jams, although if not you can always stream it at Bandcamp or Ubiktune. Whatever you have to do,\u00a0GET THIS GOODNESS IN YOUR EARHOLES<\/em><\/strong>. \u00a0It’ll do your mind, body, heart,\u00a0and<\/em> \u00a0soul a world of good. Funk is magical like that. 8)<\/p>\n
