Chewie brings us a new guitar driven remix of a classic Zelda theme, “Lost Woods (Saria’s Song)” as the first listen to his upcoming album, Zelda’s Midwest Emo Mixtape.

Every few years music takes a turn off the beaten path for a dirt road. This year’s detour from the mainstream lofi chill beats seems to be a throwback to the 90s, with midwest emo becoming a rising star in the underground.

Guitarist and producer ‪Tune In With Chewie‬ harkens back to the day of hanging out in parking lots of closed malls and shopping centers, listening to music with friends on hot summer nights.

Wait, what’s “Midwest Emo”?
Midwest emo is a subgenre of emo music that originated in the Midwestern United States during the 1990s. It’s characterized by distinctive guitar work, often featuring “twinkly” arpeggiated melodies, and introspective, emotionally vulnerable lyrics. While it initially gained traction in the Midwest, its sound and aesthetic have influenced bands and fans far beyond that region.

Tune in with Chewie is Nestor Estrada, a Los Angeles-based composer and guitarist known for his lofi albums Samus & Chill and Souls & Chill. In his forthcoming album Zelda’s Midwest Emo Mixtape, Chewie ventures out from the lofi sphere, and weaves together melancholy riffs and melodies from the world of The Legend of Zelda.

“Saria’s Song”, the first single from the album, highlights Chewie’s signature guitar riffs alongside twinkling synth lines and emotive reharmonizations. The theme originates from Nintendo 64 classic Ocarina of Time, and was composed by Koji Kondo.

“Saria’s Song” is out now on all online stores and streaming platforms! Support Tune in with Chewie and GameChops by streaming, saving, and adding the track to your playlists. The full album releases on July 29th, 2025.
