  • Hunter

    Hunter is the second GameChops release from chiptune musician Mega Flare, this time he turns his focus to the dark melodies of Castlevania. Mega Flare uses a Nintendo Gameboy with the homebrew software to make music. This time, he collaborated with Dj CUTMAN to record each channel of the Gameboy’s sound-chip separately to mix them using Ableton Live. The result are two larger-than-life chiptune tracks with driving basslines and crisp clean leads. You can hear the influence of Baltimore’s clubs in Mega Flare’s drum patterns and arrangement.

  • Strike The Earth!

    Dj CUTMAN here, and I love Shovel Knight! This track just dropped on the GameChops youtube channel. It’s a futuristic trap and drum and bass track that Kevin Villecco and I made out of the Shovel Knight OST. This track started at TooManyGames in the convention hotel room as a simple beat. As I played Shovel Knight, I got more and more amped for this remix, and it grew to epic proportions!” Out Now!

    Remix Default is a collaboration between New Jersey musician Ralfington and Philadelphia DJ / producer Dj CUTMAN. Remix Default re-creates the theme music of each of the four main characters from the Bravely Default soundtrack, originally composed by Revo.

    Club Kong brings together a powerhouse team of talent from the video game music scene. The album is produced by Drew Wheeler, also known as halc. Halc is best known for his work with , contributing to thirteen albums since 2007. He is also the founder of , a label that combines 8-bit sounds and modern electronic production. Club Kong is Halc’s second album with GameChops, and includes an introduction by popular youtube comedian .

    Mega Flare is a DJ, producer and chiptune musician, and Maverick is his first release with GameChops. It’s an EP of chipmusic inspired by the soundtrack of the Mega Man X series for SNES. This album was written on the music tracker software LSDj ( ) and recorded on a single Nintendo Gameboy,model DMG-01. Maverick is considered a “de-make” of the 16-bit soundtrack for Mega Man X; Each track was re-written on the 4-bit soundchip of the Nintendo Gameboy.

    VLAD is a 4-track EP, blending the sounds of EDM, Chiptunes, Jazz, and vampires to pay tribute to the Castlevania series. Castlevania was originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in the late 80’s. The energetic themes contained in the original games have been referenced throughout the series for over 25 years. VLAD is an artistic reimagination that Castlevania fans will immediately recognize.

    MeowMeow & BowWow is a Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening tribute album by Dj CUTMAN. Cutman takes an 8-bit approach to LoFi Hip Hop, mixing relaxed beats with precise chiptune instrumentation, recreated from the iconic Gameboy game.

    Composer, remixer and judge halcjoins us for an album unlike anything else we’ve heard before. Hydrocity is an album inspired by the soundscape of Sonic the Hedgehog. Halc writes: “Inspired by such visionary producers as Joshua Morse, P Villa, and Savant, this album has everything from chiptune-influenced electro and dubstep to ambient beats, FM funk and jazz fusion, delightfully blended and compiled into a 40-minute package.
