16-bit basslines and beats bounce in Button Masher’s “Poinciana”. The second single from his upcoming album Super Standards, he interprets the jazz classic in the style of Donkey Kong Country.
Button Masher is Grammy award winner Jake Silverman, a pianist and arranger. Known for his fusions of Super Nintendo nostalgia and modern hits, Jake’s upcoming album Super Standards covers the most beloved cornerstones of jazz music.
“Poinciana” was composed by bandleader and composer Nat Simon, and became the signature piece of legendary jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal. Using real Super Nintendo hardware, Jake’s interpretation features the driving drums, bass, and iconic synths of Donkey Kong Country. The full album, Super Standards, releases on August 25th!
